The Story of Us

Coined by sociologist Ray Oldenburg, the term 'third space' refers to a place where people spend time between home (‘first’) and work (‘second’).  Third Space Charity has served the community as a place to connect and find supports for mental health since 2012.

Our mission is to provide accessible mental health services and supports. Third Space Charity is committed to a proactive and preventative approach to mental health for young people on their way to becoming thriving and healthy adults.

We envision a community where mental wellness is prioritized, and quality, mental health care services are available to everyone.

Our Founders

In 2012, the founding team, led by Ken and Linda Stober, dreamed of creating a space in Kelowna for our community to connect and find support, with an emphasis on mental health.

“In our experience, when you invest in people and help them find healing and hope again, they will - in turn, spread that hope with those closest to them - affecting an entire community and eventually, the culture of that community. We set out to do just that - help our community thrive one person at a time.”
